Our Story

We’ve spent years traveling together, eating well, drinking better, and quietly cataloguing the places we never wanted to leave. Always the same kind of place: small, unpretentious, with an open kitchen and a wine list that felt like someone’s personal obsession. The kind of room where you arrive for one glass and leave three hours later, slightly flushed, having made a friend.

After years of calling Tulum home — learning its rhythms, its heat, its people — we realized we were missing exactly that. So we built it.

LOCAL is ours. Maja and Gerald. Partners in life, travel, and the ongoing project of finding the perfect bottle for the moment. We’re not restaurateurs by training. We’re people who care deeply about what’s in the glass and on the plate, and have spent long enough doing this to know the difference.

The menu is short on purpose. Seasonal, honest, made for sharing and going back for more. The kitchen is open because we have nothing to hide. Ingredients are chosen for how they taste and how they make you feel — nourishing without making a fuss about it.

The wine is natural, selected with genuine obsession, and changes often. We choose bottles with character and a point of view — wines that have something to say, best enjoyed without rules or explanations.
